Gretchen Michaels—Gretch to Colin—joined the family when he bought his house. He adopted her at the start of that chapter, and she has been by his side through COVID and everything else life has brought since. She is his favorite cat in the world, dearly loved for the company, comfort, and personality she brings to his days. She has shared adventures beyond home, too. In August 2020, Gretchen joined Colin on a road trip to visit his mom and stepdad in Sebring, Florida. The trip became “Road Trip to Sebring with Gretchen Da Cat” on his Captain Colin YouTube channel—a little piece of their shared history, long before her video-game debut. During Colin’s recovery from open-heart surgery in 2026, Gretchen became his unofficial Chief Recovery Supervisor. His recovery updates describe her extra affection, lap time, and steady company. “Purr therapy” was the running joke; having her close through the long days of getting better meant a great deal. On ColinMichaels.com, her Cat Corner persona brings a feline perspective to toys, travel, and life with humans. As editor-in-chief, she has strong opinions about what makes life better for cats—and about whether the humans have understood the assignment. Today, Gretchen is also a main character in Move, Colin’s browser adventure game. Inspired by his own cat, her in-game counterpart shares the journey through a dangerous fantasy world.
